The functionality Meltemi has to offer can be divided into two categories: play online radio stations and record online radio stations. So if you want to have some music playing in the background while you go about your day, Meltemi provides seamless access to a long list of online radio stations. And, if you like an online radio station, Meltemi provides the means to record it.

A straightforward setup wizard will help you install Meltemi ona PC that runs Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Among other things, Meltemi’s setup wizard asks you to accept the license agreement. I bring this up only to mention that that license agreement states that Meltemi is free for personal use.

Meltemi’s interface provides support for two languages: English and Greek. The bad news for English-speaking users is that Meltemi uses Greek as the default interface language. The good news is that it is quite easy to switch from Greek to English (see the Quick Look video that accompanies this article).

Meltemi is divided into two sections. The one at the top feature's all the controls. That’s where you’ll find the button to start/stop the playback, start/stop the recording, change the visualization type, open the equalizer, adjust the volume, access a list of favorite stations, and so on.

Down at the bottom there’s a list of online radio stations. There are dropdown menus that you can use to pick a certain genre, country or city; there’s a search box that you can use to locate a certain online radio station; and there’s a + button that you can use to add a new station to the list. With a simple mouse click you can hide the lower part of the interface out of sight (see the Quick Look video that accompanies this article).

Access a list of online radio stations, add new stations to the list, listen to any station you want, record any station that grabs your attention. That’s what you can expect to get from Meltemi.

Pros

A simple setup wizard will help you install Meltemi on your Windows PC. The interface provides support for English and Greek; it is very easy to switch from one language to another. The lower part of the interface can be hidden out of sight. Lots of online radio stations are featured. You can mark stations as favorites, you can filter the list, you can search within the list, and you can add new stations to the list. The option to record online stations is included. Meltemi is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
